Dena Derose

From Dan Singer

Live at Jazz Standard, Vol. II

Dena continues to surpass all of her previous CDs. On this thrilling set of 8 exceptionally performed songs, a follow-up to her first volume at the Jazz Standard night club in New York (see ITI #194), this womderful musical charmer is years ahead musically. Dena starts things off with the odie "The Ruby And The Pearl" (Evans/Livingston). It's fresh as a daisy. Just wait until you hear her take on "I Fall In Love Too Easily" (Cahn/Styne). She's has a brilliant and and an unusual duet with her solid bass player Martin Wind. She is astonishing here. The there's the playful "Laughing At Life" (Kenny/Kenny/Todd). It's just one hell of a gloves-off masterpiece. As Dena said in her liner note she had a lot of fun doing it. And you will too! You get much more than an earful from her CDs.
